O-Level

O-Level is an educational system used in schools in the United Kingdom and other schools that use the same system, which involves learning and taking exams around Year 10 to Year 11. The General Certificate of Education: Ordinary Level (GCE O Level) is the qualification awarded upon completion of this system.

The educational system in the United Kingdom for secondary school students (from Year 9 to Year 13) includes the General Certificate of Education (GCE), which requires students to learn and take exams to prepare for university studies. The GCE is divided into two levels: GCE O Level and GCE A Level, with GCE O Level being taught and tested in Year 10-11, and GCE A Level being taught and tested in Year 12-13. However, the GCE O Level in the UK has been replaced by the GCSE system, while the IGCSE is used for schools outside of the UK that use the same system, including Thailand.

What are the subjects covered in GCE O Level?

GCE O Level offers more than 40 subjects to choose from, including science, mathematics, economics, accounting, business studies, languages (including English and local languages, in some countries), literature, humanities, social sciences, religion, computer and technology, tourism, and even subjects related to arts, architecture, music, sports, performing arts, fashion, and many more.

Is there an option to learn and take GCE O Level exams in Thailand?

Actually, we have a similar educational system to GCE O Level in Thailand, which is called the International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE). Students who pass the IGCSE can then take the A-Level exams in three subjects, which is equivalent to completing Year 13 of high school and qualifies them for university studies. However, there are still many countries that use the full GCE O Level system. One example is Singapore, where it is called The Singapore-Cambridge General Certificate of Education.
