TU-GET Exam Information

Q1. What is TU-GET?

TU-GET is an English language proficiency test administered by Thammasat University. The exam consists of three sections: grammar (25 questions, 250 points), vocabulary (25 questions, 250 points), and reading comprehension (50 questions, 500 points), for a total of 100 questions and 1,000 points.

Q2. How to register for TU-GET?

Registration for the TU-GET exam can be completed online through the language institute’s exam registration system available on the website http://litu.tu.ac.th/TUGET/Login.aspx. Applicants must provide personal information for confirmation of registration, as the system requires data to be used for exam purposes and to report scores. The exam fee payment can be made only via Kasikornbank (KBank) counters.

Q3. Where are the TU-GET testing centers located?

Testing centers are divided into ones operated by Thammasat University, located at Thammasat Rangsit Center; ones operated by Assumption College and St. Gabriel’s College, which allow external candidates to register for TU-GET exam.

Q4. TU-GET Exam Schedule?

The TU-GET exam is offered every month, with an average of 12 test sessions per year. Test dates for paper-based and TU-GET CBT exams are announced throughout the year on the official testing center’s website. Most exams are held on the last Sunday of each month, and registration information will be announced on the specified date and time. Late registration is possible after the deadline, but at an additional cost

Q5. What is the passing score for TU-GET?

The passing score varies depending on the degree program and institution. Generally, a minimum score of 550 is required for both paper-based and computer-based exams at the undergraduate and graduate levels. However, the score requirements may differ depending on the degree program, as it is used to assess applicants’ eligibility for admission and interviews.

Q6. What is the validity period of TU-GET scores?

Normally, TU-GET exam scores are valid for two years from the date of the exam. There is no limit to the number of times an individual can take the exam. Scores from each test session can be checked through the official website 15 days after taking the exam. Score reports will be delivered as paper documents 30 days after the test date.

Q7. What are the fees for taking the TU-GET exam?

The fee for paper-based TU-GET is 500 baht, and 700 baht if registering after the 16th of the test month. The fee for the computer-based exam (TU-GET CBT) is 1,000 baht and increases to 1,500 baht if registering after the 1st and before the test date. Payment can be made at Kasikornbank counters or online via e-payment with a credit card. There are additional fees for requesting additional score reports or updating personal information, specified on the TU-GET website.

Generally, there is a variety of recommended TU-GET preparation books, and it depends on an individual’s preference. However, the most popular one is the yellow and red textbook published by the language institute of Thammasat University. It includes practice exercises and answers and emphasizes practicing with a time limit to help individuals improve their time management skills during the exam.
